1. Who’s Applying?

Select Student. The student is required to be the primary borrower. Parents and sponsors are not eligible to borrow on behalf of the student.

A cosigner can initiate the application. Most applicants submit the student portion first, then add a cosigner if required by Sallie Mae.

2. What Type of Program Do You Need a Loan For?

Select Undergrad/Certificate.

When asked what kind of degree you are getting, select Certificate.

3. Where Will You Attend School?

Enter “Thrust Institute” in the school search, then select:

Select This Entry
THRUST INSTITUTE OF MAINTENANCE — ADDISON, TX — 60956996
4700 Airport Pkwy, Addison, TX 75001
4. This Loan Is For My…

Select Certificate/Continuing Ed.

When asked how you plan to attend, select Full-Time.

5. What Part of the Academic Year Are You Borrowing For?

Start date: Select the month you expect to start training.

End date: Select approximately 10 months after your start date — the full AMT program is about 10 months in length.

When do you expect to graduate? Enter the same date as the end date above.

Don’t worry — you can change it later when you’re ready to train.

6. Next, Tell Us Your Cost of Attendance

Enter the amount below based on whether you will need housing assistance during your training:

AMT ProgramWithout HousingWith Housing
Full A&P Program (~10 months) $39,539 $48,539

The Cost of Attendance may include tuition and fees, training materials, books and supplies, housing, and other eligible education-related expenses.

You are not required to borrow the full amount and will have the opportunity to choose your final loan request later in the application.

7. Now, Let’s Factor In Your Financial Aid

This type of aid is meant to assist students with college coursework. Thrust Institute of Maintenance is not a college — enter “0” in this section to proceed.

8. This Is How Much You May Need to Borrow

Unlike many trade programs, Thrust Institute’s program cost is all-inclusive. Your loan amount already covers everything you need to complete training — no surprise bills along the way:

  • All Training Materials — tools, supplies, and everything else you need to complete your A&P certification are included
  • First-attempt FAA Knowledge Test Fees — all written test fees for your first attempt are covered
  • First-attempt FAA Examination — practical and oral exam fees for your first attempt are covered

You may also add a Living Expense Stipend to your loan to cover food, gas, rent, and bills during training.

9. Finally, Let’s Decide on the Amount of the Loan Request

You can submit your application individually or with a cosigner. If you’re not sure, submit individually first to see if you qualify on your own. A cosigner may be added later.

You’ll likely have questions while filling out the application — most answers can be found on this page. Please refer back during the application.
